Leadership
Welcome to Fairfax! We are an elder led family dedicated to becoming God’s heart to this community.

We believe that our elders are each called by God, the Holy Spirit to shepherd our family. And, we discern this calling as a family. The process takes about six months and culminates with a final affirmation vote by the congregation as a whole. Our Elders have a term limit of 4-6 years followed by a 12 month sabbatical. We have several paid ministers and staff to help lead our ministry teams to live out our vision of becoming God’s heart. These ministers work to equip the body for the good works prepared in advance for us to do. (Eph 2 & 4) Each of our senior ministers is also partnered with a volunteer minister leader to form the ministry coordination team (MCT).
One of the most common problems churches face is a disconnect between vision, ministry structure, staffing, and budgets. To solve this issue, our elders have assigned the administrative duties of managing the ministry of our family to the MCT. The MCT is operationally and budgetarily responsible for equipping and empowering ministries at FXCC.
The MCT structure is made up of five clusters of ministries each with a key staff person and ministry leader to lead it. Additionally, we have created a small group of members, elders, and staff to act as facilitators between the MCT, elders, and the congregation at large.
The result has been to free up the elders to focus more on their pastoral care role and less on their oversight role. Two of our elders commit attending most of meetings for both the elders and the MCT to ensure these two key leadership groups stay connected

Additionally, we have many other ministry or servant leaders as well as teachers and small group leaders who direct the work and teaching of our family.
