Worship Ministry

At the Fairfax church, we strive for our worship gatherings to be uplifting and encouraging – but even more than that, we seek to honor God as the center of our worship, and to invite others into His presence.  Worship is not about us or how we feel, about whether or not we liked the songs that were chosen, or about whether or not the sermon really made an impression on us; it has everything to do with our response to God for His saving love and faithfulness.  We don't try to be flashy or become the "next big thing" -- rather, we strive for genuineness as a broken people trying to become more like our perfect Savior, day by day.

Praise Teams and Choruses

A cappella
music is the style of choice for our worship gatherings.  We have a beautiful and long-cherished tradition as a church of Christ of singing in choral four-part harmony (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) as a church.  Each week, we seek to enhance our congregational singing through the use of praise teams. Our praise team singers are usually mic'd to bring out the fullness of each voice part and are usually comprised of 8-10 individuals who serve by leading our worship on Sunday mornings.  Our rehearsals for the following Sunday is on the Wednesday night preceding.  We also utilize both Childrens' and Adult Choruses on special occasions (Easter, Christmas, etc.) - if you like to sing without the pressure of being mic'd, then this is the place for you!

As deep-rooted as this tradition is, however, we are convicted that before God hears any notes that come from our mouths, He hears our hearts.  So each week, we seek to present our hearts as beautiful sacrifices unto Him; thus, music becomes a vehicle for doing this.  So please don't be intimidated or feel like you cannot participate because you may not know the right parts or music, because it's not about hitting notes! It's about the heart of the worshiper.

Drama and Creative Arts

We also have a long-standing tradition of excellence in the creative arts at FXCC.  Whether through Sunday morning drama, special services, or major productions, all we do seeks to glorify God as the giver of gifts and talents that we have received.

Audio/Video

Are you technically savvy (or willing to learn)?  Come be a part of our A/V Ministry!  As our culture and world evolve due to the connectedness of technology, we seek to incorporate these changes into our worship in a way that does not distract - rather, it enhances our experience of corporate worship.

We are always looking for people to become a part of our worship ministry here at Fairfax.  Whether you’re gifted in singing, drama, or audio and video, we want you to become a part of our family here.  There are so many ways to be involved, and we want YOU!

Ushering

It's easy to walk into a room full of people and feel alone.  This ministry seeks to reach out to those who have never been to our worship services before and make them comfortable.  Whether you are a member or guest, this group exists to help you find a seat and answer any questions you may have.  If you are an extrovert and care about first impressions, then this is the place for you!  Email Sam Souder or Larry Holder for more information!

(SPECIAL NOTE:  Several months ago our worship ministry was highlighted in our weekly bulletin.  Click here to read the spotlight and learn more about our ministry!)

Jesus bids us in John 4 to worship the Father "in spirit and in truth" -- that is what we intend to do through this ministry!
